If you are interested in learning a job directly from an employer rather than through school, On-the-Job Training (OJT) may be for you.
If you are participating in a Workforce Investment Act program, ask your case manager about OJT opportunities in your areas. OJT allows you to learn on the job for up to 12 weeks. Trainees are paid wages and are an employee of the company doing the training. For more information about WIA click here.
If you are a student, ask your school about internships.
If you want to learn new skills without participating in school or a program, try applying with staffing or temporary firms.
